In the early 1900s, Sergei Diaghilev transformed ballet by bringing together extraordinary artists across disciplines. He paired Stravinsky with Picasso, Coco Chanel with choreographers, composers with painters. He wasn’t the person on stage, but he created the conditions that made extraordinary work possible. Every production demanded creative ambition, difficult tradeoffs, relentless coordination, and uncompromising standards.
