The back up operator is an apprenticeship program. The back up will be used to perform duties when fill in is needed such as vacations or call offs. The back up will be pulled from their existing classification to work as a backup operator and given step up pay. Once the fill-in tasks are complete and the operator who was being filled in for has returned the backup operator will return to their existing job duties and classification.
